Veterinary Technician

Lori grew up with her parents and sister in Inez, Kentucky, where she shared her life with everything from dogs, cats, and birds to ducks, cows, horses, and chickens. For Lori, caring for animals is just what comes naturally. Ever since she can remember, she’s known that the veterinary field was the right path for her!

Lori attended the University of Kentucky to earn her Bachelor’s degree in animal science. After spending some time working in sales, she decided to get back to what she is truly passionate about: animal care. Lori came across an opening here at Animal Care Clinic in early 2018, and joined the hospital family in January. Now, she’s studying to take the Veterinary Technician’s National Exam and will soon serve the area’s pets and animal parents as a Veterinary Technician!

One of Lori’s favorite parts of her job is getting to learn something new on an almost daily basis. She also loves to interact directly with the area’s pet owners and their adorable companions, and she likes to educate whenever she can.

Away from work, Lori enjoys reading, painting, and spending time with her own dogs at home. She shares her life with Autumn, a sassy Dachshund; a chubby Basset Hound who goes by Lulu; and a spunky Chihuahua mix named Bingo.

Chloe

Chloe

Certified Veterinary Assistant

Growing up, Chloe’s family moved around a lot. The one thing that was constant in her life, however, was the fact that there were always animals around to keep her company. This upbringing fostered a deep and lasting desire to help all creatures, big and small. It didn’t take long for Chloe to realize that she loved animals so much, she wanted to work with them for a living.

Chloe’s journey began in high school when she took veterinary classes at a technical school and was able to get her foot in the door at a local veterinary clinic. In May of 2023, she joined the Animal Care Clinic to gain more experience. As a Certified Veterinary Technician, Chloe is living out her lifelong dream and loving every second.

Outside of work, Chloe resides in Versailles with her dog, Midnight, who loves to be with her wherever she goes, and her two cats, Mouse and Trap. She also has a bearded dragon named Little Dude who loves to explore and feast on super worms. Chloe’s hobbies include raising and selling rabbits, sublimating, and making epoxy tumblers.

Veterinary Assistant

Ever since her earliest days, Debbie has enjoyed taking care of others. Working in a veterinary clinic allows her to help both people and pets live happier, healthier lives. It’s the perfect fit for Debbie! She’s a proud member of Animal Care Clinic’s Veterinary Assistant team.

A native of Versailles, Kentucky, Debbie worked for the state government for several years until retiring to take care of her aging parents. She had always told others that after she retired, she wanted to work in a veterinary clinic—having been a client of Dr. Schroyer’s for many years, Debbie jumped at the chance to be a part of the hospital family! She was thrilled to become a Veterinary Assistant here at the clinic in the fall of 2017.

Aside from her interests in the world of animal care, Debbie enjoys cheering on the University of Kentucky Wildcats football and basketball teams, gardening, relaxing in the great outdoors, and taking her dogs for long walks. She lives with three canine companions: Chase, an aging beagle who was named for his habit of escaping the house and chasing rabbits in the yard; a feisty mixed-breed named Elli Sue; and an energetic Brittany Spaniel who goes by Bowdie.

Veterinary Assistant

Growing up, Haley was a regular at her grandparents’ home in Stanton, KY. Because it was in the middle of nowhere, much of her time was spent outside, catching bugs, lizards, fish, and basically anything that moved. She also had a variety of exotic pets growing up, which influenced her veterinary career. Today, as a veterinary assistant, Haley enjoys helping clients and bettering the lives of their pets.

Haley started out as an environmental science major at the University of Kentucky, but soon realized that wasn’t the career path she wanted. In June of 2023, she decided to take a leap of faith and pivot toward her childhood dream of working in the veterinary industry. She’s since transferred schools and is working toward becoming a licensed veterinary technician. Clinically, Haley enjoys parasitology and radiology.

At home, Haley has a veritable zoo of her own, include three cats: Oreo, Bitty Betty, and Pepper; a grumpy hedgehog named Ophelia; a bearded dragon named Bowser; a Blue-tongued skink named Athena; five white tree frogs; two betta fish; and three dogs: Stella, an English bulldog, and Mando and his biological sister Leda, both German shepherds.

When she’s not busy working, studying, or tending to her plethora of pets, Haley enjoys geology as a hobby. She frequently goes on walks and gets down into creeks to find rocks, minerals, and fossils. An accomplished musician, Haley is skilled in the saxophone, guitar, and ukulele. Eventually, she would like to start writing her own music.

Kim

Professional Pet Stylist, Dog and Cat Groomer

Helping animals has always been a passion for Kim. Having been involved with animal rescue for more than a decade, she has volunteered countless hours for the cause, helping to ensure that they found the perfect fur-ever homes. This experience led Kim to seek a career that would allow her to work with animals every day. She started as a bather, worked her way up to groomer, and hasn’t looked back since!

Kim’s journey began at a local PetSmart, where she worked for seven years before making the switch to grooming at veterinary clinics. Kim joined the Animal Care Clinic team in 2022. Professionally, she enjoys challenging cases, such as animals with severe matting. Moreover, while she loves all animals, she has a special place in her heart for grooming senior dogs.

A lifelong resident of Jessamine County, Kim resides there with her husband and the youngest of their two boys. Their current fur family consists of a FELV-positive cat named Cloud, a senior dog named Herbie, and a rescue named Trixie. In her free time, Kim enjoys watching movies, interior design, collecting antiques, and lounging at home with the animals.

Bethany

Bethany

Receptionist

When Bethany was nearing middle age, she felt it was time to start doing things that made her happy. In particular, she was determined to find a job that she genuinely enjoyed going to every day. Having been in customer service for 20 years, she decided to combine her professional experience with her childhood dream of working with animals, and voila! She figured receptionist at a veterinary clinic was the ideal position for her. It turns out, she was right!

Once Bethany decided to pursue a career in the veterinary industry, she put in a few applications and received a call back from Animal Care Clinic. After a nearly two-hour-long interview with Dr. Schroyer, she was invited to join the team, and the rest is history! The thing that Bethany likes most about her job is making customers smile. She also enjoys watching procedures, learning new things, and boxes of puppies!

At home, Bethany lives with her husband and their two children. The family pets include a whippet mix named Sugar who has two speeds: 35 mph zoomies or 0 mph couch-potato; a great Dane named Legacy, who is a 140-pound lap dog; a cockatiel named Daisy; a green cheek conure named Bud-Bud; an African grey parrot named Harley; and a chunky kitty named Orion.

Bethany’s hobbies include reading, taking long walks, listening to podcasts (especially Radiolab and The American Life), and visiting Laurel River Lake with her family on the weekends.

Receptionist

A Lexington native, Teresa was a client here at the hospital long before she became an employee. When the opportunity arose for her to join the very team that had given her own animal companions health and happiness over the years, she jumped at the chance! Teresa is proud to now serve the area’s pets and animal parents as one of Animal Care Clinic’s front-desk receptionists.

Teresa spent 31 years in the banking industry before retiring in 2015. It wasn’t long before she decided to put her skills back to use and rejoin the workforce. One day while picking up dog food here at the hospital, Teresa heard that the clinic was looking for a receptionist. The rest is history! She’s been a member of the hospital family since September of 2016.

At home, Teresa and her husband, Charlie, live with two dogs: Tyla is the diva of the household, while Tigger refuses to go to bed until everyone else is properly tucked in. When she isn’t caring for pets here at the clinic or tending to her own dogs at home, Teresa likes spending time with her nieces and nephews, crocheting, and researching her family genealogy.

Michelle

Michelle

Bookkeeper

Michelle has loved animals all her life—when the opportunity arose for her to put her 35 years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping to good use in a veterinary setting, she knew that she had found the perfect path! Michelle is proud to serve as a member of the Animal Care Clinic team.

As the Bookkeeper of Animal Care Clinic, Michelle is responsible for keeping all financial records in order. She loves to help answer pet owners’ questions, and she also likes jumping in to lend a helping hand in the exam rooms whenever possible. Michelle finds that nothing beats helping to deliver litters of puppies! In her spare time, Michelle likes traveling and spending time with her friends.

After the loss of my heart dog Harley (Dogo Arentino) I am now doing fostering to abused and or neglected dogs until finding the perfect furrever home for them.
